The Great Depression lasted throughout the majority of the 1930s. Many people lost their jobs and homes. Soup kitchens handed out bread and soup for homeless families. Herbert Hoover was the president during the first part of the Great Depression, but soon Franklin Delano Roosevelt became president. Large areas with poorly built shacks of homeless people were called Hoovervilles. President Roosevelt created the New Deal. World War II helped our country's economy because jobs were created. Mrs. Daquanno!!! I won't be at school on the 10th, 11th, or 14th, and I don't think I'll have internet acess when I'm gone!!!!* You may want to take a book or two with you. You need two databases, one print source, and any three other sources for a minimum of five sources. You could do that part of your research and finish the rest when you get home. Your grpahic organizer is due on Firday, April 18. The skeleton graphic organizer is on the home page of the wiki.
